🇺🇸 Is Napa's Promontory Worth It? 🍇

Just got back from Promontory — Napa’s mountaintop hidden gem — and I have to share! 🙌🏻 As someone who used to only drink supermarket wine, this experience totally changed my perspective. This winery occupies an entire mountaintop, nestled between two large ridges. Driving up feels like entering a secret base — ultra-private and incredibly luxurious! 🤸🏻‍♂️ The 90-minute journey goes like this: ✨ Welcome – Kicked off with Dom Pérignon! Right at 11:30 AM, we were greeted with champagne. The ceremony was so grand my hands were shaking with excitement! Our sommelier (they call them Ambassadors) was super nice. I was nervous I wouldn’t understand the wine jargon, but she was patient and never made me feel out of place. I instantly felt welcomed and valued! 🐾 Exploring the Cellar – Hidden doors, grapes, and oak barrels! For those who love photos, start shooting as soon as you enter — it’s stunning! The coolest part? A hidden door leading to the cellar! Walking through a secret passage and pushing open that door — wow! Oak barrels everywhere, a marble table in the center, the atmosphere was just perfect. The most magical moment was tasting the freshly picked 2023 grapes! The sommelier said they were still young, but I could already sense a hint of… subtle tannins? (Just learned that term lol!) 🍷 Tasting Room – We sat in an elegantly designed tasting room and slowly enjoyed two wines: 🫗 First: 2017 Promontory (Flagship) – Whoa! This was different! So much richer, more powerful, and complex. The moment I sipped it, I was stunned… Is this what “layers” taste like? It felt like my highlight moment ever! 🫗 Second: 2016 Penultimate (Second Label) – My first reaction was “WOW!” Super intense fruit flavors, very open and newbie-friendly. So delicious! 🪧 Honest Take: Worth it? The environment 👌, service 💯, but bottles start in the four-figures (USD!) — and even having money doesn’t guarantee you can buy one! At $300 per person for 90 minutes, it’s a unique experience — the views, privacy, service, and access to this level of wine… ordinary wineries just can’t match it. 📸❗ Photo Warning: The interior is beautiful and photogenic. The sommelier will even offer to take photos for you (though skills may vary). But the focus here is immersion, not a photoshoot. If you try to go outside for photos, you might be gently reminded to stay inside. 👠 Don’t wear heels! The path is full of gravel and uneven ground. You’ll be walking, chatting, enjoying the views, and listening to explanations — no time to pose! 📩 How to Book? Email: hospitality@promontory.wine at least two weeks in advance! In short, Promontory feels like stepping into an isolated wine paradise. As a wine newbie, getting to taste something like this and expand my horizons… well, maybe the money wasn’t totally wasted? 💸✨ #NapaValley #PromontoryWinery #NapaGuide #USATravel #LuxuryWine
