🇺🇸 Los Angeles|Osawa Izakaya & Shabu Shabu 🍣🍲
Overall, the prices felt a bit high— $12 for a corn tempura? 🙃 But you can still find some unique dishes here. Their sushi is mostly served without seasoning, relying mainly on soy sauce for flavor. To me, it felt like the chef might be lacking creativity— or perhaps it’s tailored to suit the local preference for simpler tastes? Besides sushi, they also offer small plates 🍱, though I didn’t look closely at the drink menu. They also serve bento boxes and shabu shabu 🍲, so the place gives off a mix of traditional Japanese izakaya vibes with adjustments to appeal to a wider audience. The Japanese auntie who served us seemed a bit tired, but later a young guy came to help— he shared that it’s a family-run business. He’s mixed-race (Japanese heritage but looks more Western), and he runs the restaurant with his sister. The auntie also helps out occasionally. They even gave us a complimentary dessert to take home! 🍡✨ Average cost: ~$100 per person. Personally, I still prefer Kiraku back in the Bay Area for better value and taste. #Izakaya #JapaneseCuisine #RestaurantRecommendation #LAFood #DiningExperience #JapaneseFoodLA #SoCalEats
