🇺🇸 Napa Day Trip from the Bay Area

Originally, we had planned to visit the Redwood National Park, but California’s endless snowstorms this year ruined our plans ❄️🚫. So, we switched to Napa at the last minute! As someone who has been to Napa five times, I designed a special itinerary to showcase the best of the region — perfect for those short on time but eager to experience the essence of Napa! 🚗🍇 1️⃣ Depart from the Bay Area at 10 AM, arrive in downtown Napa around 11:30 AM Lunch options: Zuzu or Ristorante Allegria Zuzu offers top-tier Spanish 🇪🇸 tapas and paella in the Bay – a great spot for wine pairing or trying something new! Ristorante Allegria is my absolute #1 Italian 🇮🇹 restaurant in Napa. Their sourdough bread served with red wine onion dip is UNREAL – so good we always ask for a second portion! 🥖🍷 Must-try: The first pasta on the menu – ravioli in rich creamy sauce with mushroom filling. It’s smooth, fragrant, and deeply satisfying 🍄🤤. Pro tip: Pair it with a Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon to balance the richness! 2️⃣ After lunch, take a relaxing break before wine tasting We headed to Bothe-Napa Valley State Park in Calistoga 🏞️. It’s a peaceful, flat trail along a creek – perfect for walking off your meal, dipping your feet in the water, and taking photos 📸💦. The hike takes about 1.5 hours. 3️⃣ Around 3 PM, head to a winery! We chose one of Napa’s classic spots: Castello di Amorosa 🏰🍷. This place is wildly popular for a reason – it’s photogenic and appeals to all ages! We booked the Reserve Table Tasting ($70 per person). Worth the splurge! You get seated service with a host explaining each wine’s profile and ideal food pairings. We tried sheep’s cheese and ham with bold reds – delicious! While their Pinot Noir was just okay, their sparkling wine and a special late-harvest sweet wine (even sweeter than syrup!) were standouts 🥂✨. 4️⃣ Dinner at Ad Hoc 🍽️ A family-style Michelin-starred experience by Thomas Keller!
