With its sunny days and dramatic temperature swings, Napa is undoubtedly a top-tier Cabernet region. Short on time, I hit three famous wineries in one day – each tasting around $100. Book ahead, and come thirsty! 😉 1️⃣ Opus One 🏆 A must-visit for first-timers in Napa – the most iconic American wine for Chinese enthusiasts. $125 tasting: Try the ’19 and ’21 Opus One + Overture. Each vintage comes with a detailed intro on climate impact and blend variations. ’19 offered sweet dark fruit, vanilla oak, graphite from Cab Franc, rose petals, dark chocolate, and silky tannins. Overture was fruitier and simpler. I splurged on a ’15 pour – more balanced, lighter tannins, leather notes. Pro tip: Take your glass to the rooftop terrace, sit back, and enjoy the vineyard views. Pure bliss! ☀️🍇 2️⃣ Kenzo Estate 🎌 When I told Opus One staff I was heading here, their eyes lit up! A trendy spot lately – slightly remote (better for last). Three wines with Japanese names (founder is Japanese). Loved “Ai” – a Bordeaux blend with a unique twist: blackberry, cigar box, incredible aroma. Quality rivals Opus One! Relaxed vibe – perfect for afternoon chilling. 3️⃣ Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 🦌🍇 Home to Napa’s best Cabernet vineyards – once beat Bordeaux in a blind tasting! Two main plots: Fay & SLV – same road, different terroir, different flavors. Bonus pour: “Cellars 23” ($$$) showed highest quality – you get what you pay for! Single-vineyard lacked the complexity of blends but burst with ripe fruit and silky tannins. Only Napa and Chile achieve this level of Cab maturity! 🍕 Lunch spot: Oakville Grocery (near Opus One) Grab fresh pizza or burgers – delicious!
