🇺🇸 NYC Food Diary|6 Restaurants in One Hungry Week 🍴
It was a week of big appetites and bold flavors — here’s the scoop on where I ate! 🍣 Sushi AMANE A reliable omakase spot, though some say it’s not quite what it was when the original chef was here. Fish quality is solid for the price, rice is well-seasoned, and the meal flows smoothly. Still, NYC omakase feels a bit overpriced, and this one lacked that “wow” moment — pleasant but safe. 🍖 Lord’s A British-style bistro heavy on rich, hearty small plates. Great for cold weather, though some proteins were dry or overcooked. The Scotch egg (filled with curry-spiced lamb) and duck pie (with liver and heart filling) were deeply savory — but watch out for the salty sauces. Wine list leans funky natural, and… some were too funky for me. 🥚 Buvette Even at 2:30 PM on a weekday, there was a line. Sadly, it didn’t live up to the hype. The scrambled eggs were fine, but the bread was dry and the smoked salmon average. The famous chocolate mousse was rich and smooth — but also super heavy. Felt like something I could make at home (and maybe do better). 🌟 ACRU The chef used to work at Michelin-starred Atomix. We walked in and sat at the bar — limited menu but impressive flavors! Potato cake with uni, crispy red shrimp wrapped in lardo, and a perfectly seared fish in savory broth lifted my spirits after the Buvette letdown. Excited to return for the full tasting. 🌶️ ARIARI A delightful Busan-style Korean spot. The house-pickled cabbage was the star — sweet, spicy, garlicky, and paired beautifully with everything. Uni cream rice hotpot was comforting, and the scallops were tender and sweet with creamy mayo. Fresh, vibrant, and full of personality. 🍝 A Pasta Bar Pro tip: don’t sit on the terrace when it’s cold! Burrata with tomato and pistachio was a flavor bomb. Focaccia was more dense than fluffy, but the pastas — like truffle cream cheese rigatoni and clam linguine — were perfectly al dente and deeply satisfying. The chocolate Basque “cheesecake” was way too sweet, though.
