🇺🇸 Pittsburgh Food Adventure ☀️ Tasting the Flavors of Summer 🍋🟩
Worth a second visit! I first went in autumn, and while the current menu looks similar at a glance, the seasonings and ingredients have changed — making it a completely new experience. So refreshing and surprising! 🐚 Scallop Crudo Plump, sweet scallops marinated with orange and lime juice, topped with crushed pistachios. My friend said, “It’s like summer on a plate!” 😄 So delicious — highly recommend! 🍄🟫 Marinated Mushrooms Served with focaccia — these mushrooms are so meaty and satisfying! In peak season now, they’re incredibly fresh. Tossed in balsamic vinaigrette and fresh pea shoots — light, tangy, and totally addictive. Even better than the hot mushrooms I had at Morcilla — this version is perfect for summer! 🐟 Rainbow Trout Didn’t get a close-up, but it was a generous half-trout! Locally sourced, pan-seared until tender with a simple seasoning that really lets the fish shine. A must-order for seafood lovers 🐟💚 🍃 Summer Risotto A surprise gift from owner Jillian (so sweet — she recognized me!). This risotto was INCREDIBLE — creamy Italian short-grain rice loaded with fresh zucchini, bean sprouts, asparagus, and Reggiano cheese. Pure carb happiness 😍 We cleaned the plate in minutes — not heavy at all. Who knew risotto could feel so right in summer? 🥗 Field Greens A simple but tasty green salad — fresh, though overshadowed by the standout dishes. We were too full for dessert — next time! If you’re curious about summer menus, don’t miss this one! P.S. The menu changes slightly each week depending on what’s in season 🍅🌽 🇮🇹 Jillian‘s Restaurant 📍 400 Freeport St, New Kensington 🅿️ Street parking available | Easy highway access — a bit far but smooth drive!
