🇺🇸 Pittsburgh Food Diary | A Bite at The Vandal 🥖✨
Went on a food date with my gorgeous friend to this cozy spot—The Vandal! It’s a bread-loving heaven, and here’s what we tried: 🍞 Complimentary Bread Healthy-grained bread served with homemade butter. Chewy, fragrant, and a perfect start! 🧈👌 🍞 Steak Tartare Raw beef mixed with olive oil—super smooth and rich. Served with crispy potato chips 🥔. Personally, I prefer a brighter version; this got a bit heavy toward the end. Would’ve loved some diced pear for freshness! 🍐 🍞 Foie Mousse A delicious bite of foie gras mousse on biochoe bread, topped with cashews and pickled veggies. Sweet, crunchy, tangy, soft—all in one! Really interesting combo. 🍞 Shrimp Toast Not my favorite, though many recommend it. The shrimp was a bit tough, and the flavor leaned Italian. The sauce underneath was okay with bread, but tasted a bit artificial 🍤😕. 🍞 Squid Ink Caserecce Really tasty! Topped with crispy puffed rice, fried calamari rings, and squid ink pasta coated in rich sauce. The pasta had a firm bite, and went perfectly with the chewy squid 🦑❤️. 🍞 Chocolate Mousse Pretty standard dessert. The pistachios on the whipped cream went well with the mousse, but the marinated cherry in the cream was… too American for me 🍒😅. 🍞 Unknown Dessert (Corn Bread-like) The center tasted like cornbread, served with thick vanilla-infused cream and strawberry jam 🍓. Honestly, I preferred the cornbread plain without the jam or cream. Cute place, great for small bites and bread lovers—but a few hits and misses! #PittsburghEats #TheVandal #FoodReview #PittsburghFoodie #FoodDiary #StudyInUSA #PittsburghLife
