🇺🇸 Pittsburgh Restaurant Reviews | What CMU Students Eat on Weekends

As busy CMU students, we rarely have time to explore restaurants during the week… So weekends are for treating ourselves to good food! 😋 📍 Girasole Their pasta and tiramisu are delicious, but as someone who doesn’t eat cheese, my options were limited 🥹 📍 Morcilla The chicken paella was way too salty – you could literally taste salt crystals 😅 The beef tartare was good, but other dishes were either just okay or overly salty. My friend loved it another time though, so I’ll give it another chance ✋🏻 📍 Storming Crab Cajun flavor was aromatic and satisfying! Packed with protein 🦀 Located right next to a movie theater – perfect combo for next time. 📍 Shibam The coffee had a nice spice note, but it was too sweet for me. The cake wasn’t overly sweet, but I couldn’t taste the pistachio 🫤 📍 Gi-Jin The grilled beef was delicious with a smoky flavor, but the fish didn’t taste very fresh, and the scallops were kinda fishy 🐟 📍 Meat & Potatoes Went here for my birthday. Pretty average – the steak was salty. Wagyu salad and truffle fries were the best though 😋 📍 HK Dim Sum As a Cantonese, I was speechless… I know it’s frozen dim sum, but even the premade choices were bad 🤬 📍 Waffallonia Nutella + strawberry + banana combo = impossible to go wrong 😍 Crispy outside, soft inside waffles – perfect cheat day treat! 📍 Kyuramen x TBaar - Pittsburgh Omurice was mediocre (rice was dry), ramen was okay, but Fujiya is still better 🍜 📍 Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse servers walk around with different kinds of meat and slice it for you 🥩 But eating so much meat can get heavy. I got the “all experience” for $60+ per person – not the best value for light eaters like me. (Was chatting too much… forgot to take pics 😭) Heading back to Pittsburgh next semester – can’t wait to eat more! Let me know your restaurant recommendations 😉 #StudyInUS #InternationalStudentLife #PittsburghFood #CMU #PittsburghEats #StudyAbroadPlog #PittsburghLife #CarnegieMellon #PittsburghRestaurants #Pittsburgh #USCampusLife
