🇺🇸 Pittsburgh Surroundings | Autumn Adventure in West Virginia 🍂
We were lucky to catch the tail end of the peak season amidst the unusually rainy October in the eastern U.S. 🍁📸 Gear I brought: Camera: A7M4 Lenses: 16-35GM2 + 24-70GM2 Drone: DJI Mini 3 Pro Filters: CPL + ND Blackwater Falls State Park 📍 Shot at Lindy Point (a 10-minute trail from the parking lot). 💡 Tips: It rained that morning, so the trail was muddy—hiking shoes are a must! 👟 Seneca Rock 📸 Drone shot. You can hike to the top (night hikes are popular here!). Regret not bringing a telephoto lens 😅. Dolly Sods Wilderness 📍 Bear Rocks Overlook (parking available). 🚗 The 6-mile unpaved road is flat but extremely rocky. My low-clearance car with stiff suspension took 30+ minutes—bumpy and heart-wrenching! Recommend a vehicle with good suspension. Babcock State Park 🌊 The iconic waterwheel stops at 6 PM. For long exposures with ND filters, plan ahead as single shots may blur the wheel. Check the park’s live cam for foliage updates—it was past peak when we visited. Itinerary: Saturday: 11:00 AM: Depart Pittsburgh 2:30 PM: Arrive at Blackwater Falls (Lindy Point → Elakala Falls) 5:00 PM: Drive 1 hr to Seneca Rock (drone shots until sunset at 6:30 🌅) Sunday: Morning: Drive 1 hr to Dolly Sods 1:00 PM: Drive 3.5 hrs to Babcock State Park 7:00 PM: Return to Pittsburgh (3.5 hrs drive) 🚗💨 Note: This was a rushed trip! Accommodation: LRC B&B, 417 Jenningston Farm Rd 🏡 A cozy house in the mountains, 0.5-1 hr from the first three spots. The hosts were warm, with 4 cats, a dog, and a small farm. 🐶🐱 🌌 Located in a Class 2 dark zone—perfect for Milky Way photography next summer! ✨ #WestVirginia #FallFoliage #AutumnAdventure #TravelPhotography #PittsburghGetaway #DronesOfInstagram #NatureLovers #RoadTrip #ExploreWV #LandscapeLovers 📍🍂
