๐บ๐ธ San Francisco | San Jose | OMG the Bay Area is SO DELICIOUS!
I'm literally exploding with happiness today ๐ญโจ I explored the Bay Area food scene and every single spot was mind-blowing! I'm so happy! I'm so happy! Gotta write this down before I forget!!! ๐ฑ Shoji ๐ 140 New Montgomery St #1, San Francisco, CA 94105 OH. MY. GOD. The uni (sea urchin) rice bowl was divine! Iโd already eaten one dinner, but I still devoured this. So fresh, so sweet โ the uni, the savory roe, the soft sweet shrimp, the creamy egg yolk... pure perfection ๐๐ฆ๐งก ๐ฐ Heads up: It's $48 a bowl โ not cheap! ๐ฅฃ The sweet shrimp miso soup was so good I drank it all before taking a photo ๐ Super umami, totally infused with shrimp essence! ๐ Chicken wings were okay, nothing special. ๐ซ Skip the edamame โ weirdly sour, not worth it! ๐ข Noren Izakaya ๐ 1701 Powell St, San Francisco, CA 94133 My sister found this gem of a yakitori spot โ so good! Simple, clean flavors, just good ingredients + salt. My ranking: 1๏ธโฃ Wagyu (MUST order!) 2๏ธโฃ Beef tongue 3๏ธโฃ Chicken wings 4๏ธโฃ Chicken thigh 5๏ธโฃ Gizzard 6๏ธโฃ Mushrooms ๐ Not many carbs here โ great for drinks & bites, not for a big empty stomach. ๐ฅ Skip the gyoza and dessert. ๐ฒ We tried the mapo tofu udon โ my sister loved it, I thought it was just okay. ๐ Yum Noodles (Yang Yu Xing) โ A Hunan Noodle Spot in San Jose SLURPING NOODLES = PURE JOY ๐ญโค๏ธ I had the Stir-Fried Pork with Dried Tofe Noodles โ HEAVEN. My sister had the Pickled Mustard Tuber & Shredded Pork Noodles. We were both too busy devouring our bowls to talk ๐ ๐ If I had to nitpick: a bit oily, and the dried tofu could be more flavorful. Also, the noodles arenโt the fresh handmade kind I grew up with (Iโm half-Hunan, so Iโm picky!). ๐ But for the U.S., this is seriously legit. The whole restaurant was full of Hunan locals โ that says it all! #BayAreaFoodie #SanFranciscoEats #SanJoseNoodles #UniBowl #YakitoriLove #HunanFood #NoRegretsJustEats #FoodComaIncoming
