šŗšø Study Abroad Plog | šØš¦ Winnipeg
Though Winnipeg isnāt a big city, it has so many great food spots š“! There are bubble tea shops everywhereālike four or five Coco outlets, three Gong Chas, and almost every corner in the mall has one. As someone from Minnesota, Iām seriously jealous š. š· 529 Wellington Steakhouse | CA$100+ per person A fine dining restaurant where the taste and ingredients justify the price. Didnāt expect such an elegant atmosphereāeveryone was dressed up š. The beef carpaccio was delicious: crispy bread topped with fresh, well-seasoned beef. The Wellington steak š„© was perfect at medium-rare. I havenāt tried Wellington in the US, so no comparisons, but this one was great. The lobster bisque was just okay, but all their steaks are safe choices. š„¢ Golden Dragon Restaurant | CA$35+ per person I thought Chinese food would be cheaper in Canada⦠but not really š Taxes are surprisingly high, and even rice costs extra. Their stir-fried dishes like Yu Xiang Pork and fried pork with pepper are super authentic. The cold skin noodles (liangpi) that everyone raves about on Xiaohongshu were just okay to me, but the roujiamo was tasty. The boiled fish š was clearly not frozen, and the portion of boiled beef was generous. Not a fan of their spicy crab š¦ thoughāpreparation wasnāt what I expected, and the crabs were small without much meat. š Jollibee | CA$25+ per person Always seeing Carol eating their spicy fried chicken onlineāfinally got to try it! š„ The spicy chicken is like KFCās hot wings Pro Max version. The dipping sauce makes it even betterāso flavourful! Their original recipe is just average, so go all-in on the spicy! š Poutine Is this a Canadian or Winnipeg specialty? Fries topped with gravy and cheese curds. Maybe I got it from the wrong place, but it wasnāt really my thingāa bit too heavy for me. #StudyInUS #OasisInFoodDesert #Winnipeg #WinnipegFood #WinnipegEats #WinnipegLife #WinnipegLocal
