πΊπΈ Travel Notes: Providence, RI
On a gray morning in New York, we boarded a Greyhound bus and embarked on a four-hour journey to Providence ππ¨. We got off downtown, strolled around the plaza, and took a short city walk. For lunch, we ate at Rouge Island β a great spot though we waited about 15 minutes in line πβ³. In the afternoon, we visited RISD and Brown University. I especially loved the large lawn at Brown β the brown bricks and classic Georgian-style eclectic architecture gave a strong sense of history and academic atmosphere ποΈπ. For dinner, we tried an Indian restaurant on College Hill called Kabob and Curry! We sampled their signature masala, Madras curry, and some Indian snacks. The curry was delicious, though some of the sweets were a bit too adventurous for our taste π π. We stayed at Michie House in College Hill, right next to Brown! Since we booked late, downtown hotels were pricey, but this place was very affordable. It used to be a Brown dorm and is now rented to travelers β the facilities are basic, but at just Β₯200 per person, you really canβt complain πποΈ. The next day, we originally planned to take Bus 60 to Newport to see The Breakers and walk the Cliff Walk, but the route was suspended due to a holiday πΏ. So we continued exploring Providence instead β admiring the architecture and visiting the Rhode Island State House. The city is full of elegant, classical buildings β a quintessential New England town ποΈπ. Yet, even this beautiful city isnβt free from post-pandemic American social issues. Around Kennedy Plaza, there were quite a few unhoused individuals, and some were openly using drugs like fentanyl β a sad and stark reality ππ. #RhodeIsland #Providence #BrownUniversity #TravelUSA #GreyhoundBus #NewEngland #CityWalk #AmericanTravel ππΈ
