๐บ๐ธ Traverse City โ Why Didnโt I Discover You Sooner?
I visited Traverse City briefly four years ago but only stayed a day and didnโt get to explore properly. It was so hot back then I didnโt even climb Sleeping Bear Dunes! This time, everything aligned perfectly โ three full days to experience it all. ๐๐๏ธ ๐ท Wineries on the Peninsula Drove along the peninsula stopping at vineyards, mesmerized by the lake views. Tried five wineries โ Mari Vineyard was my favorite for its scenery, vibe, and wine! ๐๐ฅ ๐ป Sleeping Bear Dunes This spot really depends on luck with the weather โ too hot or cold and itโs not climbable. I went on a perfect day โ around 20ยฐC, cloudy after rain. Went barefoot and made it to post #18! Round trip took about two hours. I almost didnโt want to leave, fearing Iโd never get weather this good again ๐ But hey โ beyond the dunes, the great lakes await! Stopped after an hour though โ itโs a workout! ๐ช ๐ Food Highlights Lakeside restaurants like Apache Trout Grill are more about the view than the food ๐๐ธ (The fish was bland and oily, but the scenery is gorgeous โ ironically I picked the same place four years ago ๐) Highly recommend La Becasse Restaurant in Maple City ๐ด๐ซ๐ท A French fine-dining spot deep in the woods (yes, really!) โ no signal but amazing food. Been here four years apart, and itโs still thriving! Also, donโt miss the Northern Michigan specialty: Smoked Whitefish Dip ๐ Itโs salty everywhere, but totally worth trying! ๐บ Local Breweries Tried a few cideries and breweries โ none beat the non-alcoholic apple cider ๐ ๐ง Grand Traverse Pie Company Cozy vibe + freshly baked pies! As a Chinese person, my gold standard for Western desserts is: "Itโs not too sweet!" โ ๐ ๐๏ธ Shopping in Downtown Traverse Surprisingly fun to explore โ stylish crowds, lively atmosphere, and veryโฆ white ๐๐ #SleepingBearDunes #PureMichigan #TraverseCity #GreatLakes #WineTasting #TravelMI
