🇺🇸NYC|Chilly Weather Meets Cozy French Bistro 🍷

As soon as I saw Libertine, I knew I had to visit. There’s something about stepping into a warm bistro on a cold New York day that just feels right. The menu is written on chalkboards — simple, honest, and quite drink-friendly. Nothing blew my mind, but everything was pleasant and well-executed. Highlights: 🦀 Black Truffle Crab Fritters – The crab is blended into a smooth, almost takoyaki-like texture. Served with a dipping sauce described as “spicy curry,” but it tasted intriguingly like pickled chili — tangy and bright. 🐚 Scallops with Seaweed & Hollandaise – The scallops were tender and sweet, topped with a toasted, crumbly hollandaise crust that reminded me of coconut bread topping from childhood. Creamy, savory, and satisfying. 🍝 Gnocchi with Mushrooms – Soft, pillowy potato dumplings in a rich, earthy mushroom sauce — comforting and buttery. 🦆 Duck Deux-Façons – Two preparations: Seared duck breast — the skin was a bit chewy, not crispy, but the meat was tender and perfectly cooked. Shredded duck rillettes topped with mashed potato, baked in a small crock — simple, salty, and weirdly addictive. 🍰 Desserts – Rice Pudding – Huge portion, creamy with prominent vanilla and crunchy hazelnuts. Chocolate Mousse – Dense, rich, slightly bitter with a hint of liqueur. Both were quite heavy, maybe too much after a rich meal. All in all, Libertine is affordable, relaxed, and unpretentious — the kind of neighborhood spot you’d return to just for the vibe and a glass of wine, even if the food doesn’t surprise you. #LibertineNYC #FrenchBistro #NYCEats #CozyVibes #DateNight #WestVillage #ComfortFood #NYCRestaurants #WineBar #ChalkboardMenu #SimplePleasures #NYCFoodie #WinterWarmth
