🇺🇸NYC Tapas Guide 🍴|6 Popular Spanish Spots Compared
Lately I’ve been craving tapas, and NYC certainly delivers when it comes to Spanish cuisine. Here’s my take on six well-known spots — and I’d love your recommendations too! Casa Mono ⭐ A beloved Michelin-starred spot. Rich, oily, deeply flavorful small plates perfect with wine. Razor clams are plump and garlicky, fideos with clams and sherry aioli is decadent and satisfying, and confit goat (though a bit dry) comes with a tasty avocado-pistachio sauce.🎶 Txikito Cozy Basque-style tapas. Highlights include tender octopus carpaccio brightened with lemon and herbs, crispy sweetbreads with pickled onion, and a rich uni-shrimp-rice dish with enoki mushrooms. Skip the Basque cheesecake here — it was dry.💕 Ernesto’s Shares roots with Montreal’s Beba. Bold, oily, intensely flavorful bites like crab toast and sardine toast, plus a smooth foie gras with apple compote. The pork chop (fried) was heavier than expected, but their Basque cheesecake is a must — creamy, slightly runny, and beautifully balanced.❤️ Tomiño Taberna Gallega Classic, no-fuss Spanish fare. Octopus is tender (though I prefer it charred), tortilla Española has a lovely runny center, and the ham is flavorful. Heard their seafood and rice dishes are great — will try next time!👌 Nai Modern, creative tapas. Some hits, some misses. The steak sandwich felt out of place, and cod rolls were forgettable, but the “paella-style” pasta was addictive. Their aioli and sangria are excellent.👍 Boqueria (Flatiron) A chain that fell flat for me. The paella had a noticeable frozen seafood taste — a letdown compared to others.😊 Have a favorite Spanish spot in NYC?
