🏴 Edinburgh’s French Dining at L’Escargot Bleu
L’Escargot Bleu offers a 2-course and 3-course menu for £55 and £60 respectively, with the 3-course including a dessert. We opted for the 3-course each. The decor, food, and service were all impressive. What shocked me was the absence of a service charge; they didn’t even give us the option to add one. They just showed us the total and swiped the card! Starters 🦀 The fish and crab soup had a strong crab flavor, much more intense than I expected, with a delicious taste. Highly recommend giving this soup a try. 🧄 Grilled snails in garlic and parsley butter with chorizo were decent, but after the amazing soup, the snails seemed a bit underwhelming. Main Courses 🥩 The ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce, cooked to medium, was better than Blacklock’s! A delightful surprise that makes me want to go back for more. 🐟 Monkfish cheeks in dieppoise sauce were also delicious, mainly due to the excellent sauce. However, I recall the potato purée being a bit too salty? Desserts 🍮 The crème brûlée was torched tableside, which was a treat to watch and eat. I’ll definitely be back for more. 🥧 The pear and almond tart was sweet but just right, depending on whether you got a piece with pear. It was perfect with the right amount of tart filling; too much could be overly sweet. Overall, L’Escargot Bleu is a great French restaurant in Edinburgh! Including drinks, the average spend is about £70, which is worth it. We had a reservation, but the place didn’t seem too busy; walk-ins might be possible. The atmosphere is perfect for small gatherings and dates. ❣️ #EveryDayIsWorthRecording #EdinburghFood #Edinburgh #UnitedKingdom #FoodExploration #HiddenGemRestaurant #Plog #Daily #DateNight #BritishLife
