A Collection of New York Taverns
Bridges ๐๐ธ A new spot in Chinatown, with a chef team that previously worked at Estela. Itโs really quite popular, with no empty tables all night long. Must-try is the Comtรฉ tart, which tastes like KFCโs egg tart. (Yes, thatโs a compliment.) ๐ฟ๐ The wine here is also highly recommended, especially the macerated wine from the Loire Valley recommended by the French, which indeed has a lot of character. ๐ท Claud๐๐ธ The wind was strong, but my friend and I thought it was just average. We went there in the summer, and the seasonal tomato tart was really nice. ๐ฟ๐ The other dishes were just normal. The dessert, Devilโs Cake, is huge in portion, a very American-style sweet, but I liked it a lot. ๐ฐ Foxface Natural ๐๐ธ Itโs also been very popular recently. The owner used to be a programmer. I think the taste is a bit sour, but the seasoning and dishes are very novel, such as kangaroo tartare. The menu changes frequently. ๐ La Vara Specializing in Spanish tapas, so good I wrote a whole post about it before. The ham and gazpacho are must-orders. ๐ Place des Fรชtes๐ฟ๐ Focuses on French cuisine, with a bit heavy seasoning. The plating and atmosphere are very photogenic. The menu is not long, so if you have a big group, you can order everything. ๐ฝ๏ธ Saint Julivert ๐ฟ๐ It has the same owner as La Vara and is right next door. The whipped mackerel is highly recommended; the fish paste with slightly toasted sourdough is delicious. Also try the boudin, a seafood sausage with a gravy that has a hint of curry. ๐ #NewYork #NewYorkFood ๐๐
