A cozy Japanese izakaya that goes well with dinner- 🇧🇷 Sao Paulo
Kakurega is a niche restaurant in São Paulo. It's small, with only about ten seats in total. There’s a chef 👨🍳 busy preparing dishes, and the owner takes care of taking orders and serving customers. The food here is generally on the salty side but goes well with rice. The dishes are fairly standard — not as outstanding as some top izakayas, but definitely not a letdown. It’s a great place for a casual try, especially popular among office workers thanks to its affordable prices. Popular dishes include the pork cutlet sandwich 🥪, rice balls 🍙, ice cream 🍦, seafood omelette 🫓, various bento boxes 🍱, and Takoyaki wrapped with octopus and cabbage (personally, I think it’s just so - so, not as good as classic takoyaki). They also serve udon noodles, wagyu beef rice bowls, and ox tongue. The curry rice is flavorful when available, and the three - layer pork in the rice bowl is tender with a slightly sweet taste. Many Xiaohongshu users recommend the drinks here, but since I only visited during the day, I didn't get to try them. Maybe it has a different charm at night. 📍 Location: Rua Manuel de Nóbrega 88 - Paraíso, near Sushiguen, The Punch Bar, and Kan Suke. 🔸 It’s a queuing - only restaurant with no delivery service. 🔸 It can get noisy when full due to the small space. 🔸 Average cost per person: R$100 - 150. #SaoPauloBrazil #Izakaya #Lunch #CurryRice #SaoPauloFoodExploration #JapaneseCanteen
