❤ Walks of Charleston → (City walk route shown in Image 2) Didn’t want a rushed tour, so we booked the Historic Charleston Walking Tour. Reservations are required—it’s advertised as "free" or pay-what-you-like, but you must pay a $1 deposit to book. The website suggests tipping $5–10 per person for the guide. → Our 3-hour walking tour covered 1.74 km, packed with fascinating stories! 📅 9:30 AM – We started our Charleston adventure under clear blue skies. Our guide, passionate about local history, brought the Old Town to life with tales of architecture, culture, and quirky trivia. 🌟 First Stop: St. Philip’s Church → Built in 1680, this Neoclassical gem is one of Charleston’s oldest landmarks. 😊 Next: Huguenot Church → Originally built in 1680 but burned down and rebuilt in 1845 in Gothic Revival style. Its soft pink walls with black trim make it effortlessly elegant. ❤ Dock Street Theatre → Claimed to be America’s oldest operating theater! 🌈 Rainbow Row → A postcard-perfect stretch of 13 pastel-colored houses, like a macaron dreamland. Reminds us of Burano Island in Venice! ✨ East Battery Street & Cooper River → Our guide pointed out Fort Sumter in the harbor—where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. 🔥 Fort Sumter → Originally a harbor defense, it became the spark that ignited the Civil War. 🥰 Water Street → Once a small creek outside the old city walls, it was later filled in and turned into a road. Charleston’s early boundaries were just a few blocks near the Cooper River, designed to ward off European powers and pirates. 🌷 Final Stop: The Four Corners of Law (Meeting St.) → A historic intersection where church, government, and justice all meet—the perfect way to end our walk! #HelloMay #StudyAbroadLife #WeekendVibes #TravelEats #Inspiration #StudyAbroad #Charleston #CheckThisOut #Stroll #Travel #USTravel #SouthCarolina #AmericanSmallTowns
