A dining experience at Brasão Coliseu restaurant in Porto

Anyone who’s done their homework must have heard of this illustrious restaurant. When we first tried walking in, it was fully booked throughout the day, and even booking for the following day’s mealtime was impossible. We had no choice but to reserve for dinner, and it was still packed with people. Make sure you book in advance if you plan to dine here. 🥪 French Maid I noticed many foreign tourists in the restaurant ordering just half a serving each, but the three of us ordered a full portion and struggled to finish it; it was incredibly filling. The outermost layer is a cheese crust wrapped around two slices of bread, with a thick steak in the center accompanied by some ham and other meats. The sauce has a strong tomato flavor, making for a rich and indulgent carbo-loaded treat. 🧅 Fried Onion Surprisingly tasty, with a very crispy exterior and onions that aren't spicy but have a hint of sweetness. What's most commendable is the accompanying black garlic mayonnaise. The renowned black garlic doesn't taste odd at all; it simply adds a salty kick to the mayonnaise, which is quite refreshing – highly recommended! 🧆 Black Truffle Meatballs This dish has a bit of a fried meatball (lion's head) vibe to it, minus the strong truffle flavor, making it quite palatable for those with a Chinese palate. 🍄 Smoked Mushroom & Asparagus Quite delicious! The asparagus and mushrooms are stir-fried to a slightly dehydrated state, reminiscent of stir-fried dried bamboo shoots. It’s a pity there wasn’t any rice to go with it; otherwise, it would have been an exceptionally satisfying dish. In summary, the food is good, but not to the extent that it warrants such long queues. If you can manage to get a reservation, by all means, give it a try. But if you can’t, don’t fret; you can always explore the flavors of Porto at a quaint little local eatery! 💰 Average cost: €18 per person 📍 Location: Brasão Coliseu, R. de Passos Manuel 205, 4000-385 Porto #ChroniclingTastyJourneys #PortoCulinaryAdventures #ExploringPortoRestaurants #EuropeanTravel Diaries #StudyingInUK #PortugueseCuisine #TouringPorto #100RestaurantChallenge #NighttimeSnackSpots #DiscoveringcharmingTowns
