Find Things to DoFind The Best Restaurants

A Foodie’s 6-Day, 5-Night Travel Guide to New Mexico 🍴🌶️✨

I was super excited for this trip to NM! Many of the restaurants were recommended by a coworker who lives in ABQ, and I also gathered tips from tons of posts and reviews. Day 1 – ABQ Hotel: Hyatt Uptown The first day was pretty chill. After landing and picking up the rental car, we headed to the hotel. Overall, the hotel was just okay—the outdoor pool was right next to the parking lot, so not very private. Later, we explored Uptown and had dinner at The High Noon, which was recommended by the manager. 🦐 This place is popular for a reason! The interior has major New Mexico vibes and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend the shrimp enchiladas—super creamy and flavorful! After that, we grabbed taro ice cream at Neke Neke in Sawmill Market… but it was way too sweet for my taste. Not the best. 🍦 Day 2 – ABQ We specifically timed our visit to catch the Fourth of July fireworks! 🎆 🍊 Breakfast at Frontiers—a famous spot right across from the University of New Mexico. It was packed even in the morning! Their orange juice was delicious, but the breakfast burrito was just okay… a bit too cheesy and heavy for me. ☕️ Then we went to Cutbow Coffee—my favorite coffee shop of the whole trip! Loved the decor, and later learned the owner used to roast beans for Peet’s Coffee. The latte was amazing, and I even bought a bag of beans as a souvenir! 🌮 Lunch at El Paisa Taqueria, known as one of the best taco spots in ABQ. Cash only, and super affordable. We tried tongue, tripe, and chorizo tacos—each was delicious and seriously reminded me of the tacos I had in Mexico City last year. Highly recommend! We missed the Pueblo Cultural Center but stumbled upon the ABQ Museum instead—and it was fantastic! The glass exhibition was especially dreamy. 💎 ☕️ As coffee lovers, we had to try another highly-rated spot: Black Bird Coffee. Hands down the most beautiful coffee shop in NM! The afternoon sun shining through the flower-painted windows was pure romance. 😍💐 Dinner at the famous El Pinto, known for its spicy ribs. The place is huge—like a whole estate! The tortilla chips before the meal were great, but the ribs were just okay… the spice flavor wasn’t as bold as I expected.
