A girl traveled alone in Cairo for four days, sharing her real feeling
Earlier this year, I traveled solo in Egypt for three months, including four days in Cairo. From initial nervousness to later relaxation, I even ended up liking this city a bit by the time I left. ❤️ First, my impressions: Crossing the street is especially scary 🚦😨, most locals are quite friendly (except at the pyramid sites), some Egyptian food is pretty tasty 😋, and personal safety wasn’t really an issue. All in all, it’s a city of contrasts—ancient and modern blend together ✨🏛️, civilization coexists with roughness, kindness and deception exist side by side. Here’s my travel advice: 📍 After landing, it’s best to exchange some Egyptian pounds at the airport, buy a local SIM card there, and then take a taxi to your accommodation 🚖💼; 📍 Female travelers should avoid wearing revealing clothes and stay out of remote alleys. If you feel like someone is following you, step into the nearest store or ask local women for help 👚🚫🆘; 📍 Ride-hailing is the most convenient way to get around. Apps like inDrive, Uber, and DiDi work in Cairo. You can even book motorcycle taxis 🏍️—they’re faster and cheaper, but a bit risky since there’s no helmet and they weave through traffic; 📍 Must-see spots: Giza Pyramids, Egyptian Museum, Salahuddin Citadel, and the Cave Church. For shopping, check out Khan El Khalili Market and Zamalek Island 🛍️🏝️; 📍 Be extra cautious at the Giza Pyramids: camel riders might ask for extra money midway 🐫❌, and avoid anyone offering to take photos or “show you special spots”—they just want tips 💰; 📍 If you enjoy city walks, explore Old Cairo—start from Bab al-Futuh 🚪 and stroll all the way to Khan El Khalili. You’ll pass many historical buildings along the way. If time allows, head to Bab Zuweila 🏰 for sunset views from the tower 🌅. #Egypt #Cairo #SoloFemaleTravel #Pyramids 🇪🇬👩🦱✨
