🏨 A Great Hotel, But San Francisco Comes at a Steep Price 💸

San Francisco is undeniably a beautiful city 🌉, and our hotel was truly exceptional—spacious rooms, elegant bathrooms, and a prime location that made exploring easy. However, our experience was overshadowed by some challenging realities just outside the hotel doors. 🚷 Homelessness Crisis Leaves an Impact The visible homelessness around the hotel area was confronting and left us with a heavy heart. While we felt safe inside, the situation outside reminded us of the city’s deep social inequalities. 🧾 Surprise Daily Fees Add Up Quickly What really stung were the daily destination fees—a combination of four separate charges: Destination Fee 🧳 Destination Occupancy Tax 🏙️ Tourism Assessment Fee 📄 California Assessment Fee ☀️ Total per day: $39.33 Over our 7-night stay, that added up to $275.31 in city taxes alone! 🏪 Closures & Urban Decay Diminish the Vibe We also noticed several closed stores in the area, which added to a sense of urban struggle. It’s disheartening to see this in such a famous city. 📢 A Message to City Leadership If the city is going to charge visitors this much in fees, we expect better stewardship of public spaces and more visible improvements. Tourists shouldn’t feel like they’re paying a premium for a declining experience. ✅ The Bottom Line We loved the hotel ❤️, but the city’ challenges—and the high taxes without visible return—made us rethink the value of our stay.
