A Humble Location with an Exquisite Kitchen and Delicious Food đŁâ¨
What an incredible dining experience! For just $160, the omakase here was not only delicious but felt endlessâa true feast for the senses. Before I dive into the culinary details, a quick word of caution: if you're walking here, avoid passing through 5th Street via Howard Street at night. The area can feel lonely and a bit eerie after dark. I made that mistake and it took me a while to shake off the unease before fully appreciating the meal. Opt for 3rd Street or take an Uber insteadâyour evening will start off much smoother! đśâď¸âĄď¸đ Now, onto the good part! I asked my hotel for a recommendation, and they directed me hereâwhat a fantastic discovery! The restaurant is situated in what appears to be a quiet business district after hours. The dining area is unassuming, but the sushi barâwhere the omakase magic happensâis a long, beautifully aged wooden counter that sets the perfect stage for an intimate meal. Behind it, the kitchen gleams under a massive stainless steel vent hood, spotless and shiny despite heavy use. This, I thought, is a place that takes its craft seriously. đ¨đłđŤ I ordered the omakase, and the chef began serving almost immediately. If I hadnât taken photos, I wouldnât have believed how many dishes I enjoyed! The journey started with a warm bowl of clams and seaweed simmered in dashiâa comforting opener, accompanied by a crispy fried baby crab. Then came four pieces of nigiri, each lightly torched to enhance the flavorâa thoughtful touch for a chilly San Francisco evening. đŚđ Next arrived tempura shrimp and vegetables with fresh clams, followed by another round of four nigiri. The highlights kept coming: tuna topped generously with caviar, seared scallops adorned with more caviar, and a stunning half-grilled bone marrow crowned with uni, caviar, edible flowers, and other flavorful garnishes I couldnât quite name but thoroughly enjoyed. đ Another set of four nigiri followed, then a whole grilled fishâintimidating at first glance but delightfully crispy on the outside and tender inside. The grand finale included more nigiri, fatty tuna, sweet shrimp, a bowl of uni and salmon roe over rice with a savory sauce, and finally, a slice of cheesecake for dessert. đ° Frankly, this was an unbelievable value for the quality and quantity. If I could change one thing, Iâd have paired the meal with a nice sake. I recommend asking the waitstaff or the chef for suggestionsâI didnât, and that was my loss! đś So, remember: avoid that dark walk on 5th Street, order a good sake or California wine, and savor every moment of this extraordinary omakase experience! #OmakaseExperience #HiddenGem #SushiLovers #SanFranciscoEats #ValueForMoney #ChefRecommendation #FoodieAdventure #DineInTheCity
