A Journey to Magome-juku on the Nakasendo Road(1)
π On February 19th, I took the 10:00 AM Meitetsu Bus from Nagoya π (the Hirugami Onsen and Iida route) and arrived in Magome at 11:25. I found that it was just the two of us who got off the bus. Next to the station, there was a convenient fast-food restaurant π¬ (P2), where locals were constantly coming and going for meals. I also sat down happily. Although it was a simple meal, it was surprisingly satisfying π (P3). The waiter was a young man with a fair complexion, who was warm and polite. π The distance from the bus station to Magome-juku is about 1 kilometer. Walking on the unfamiliar mountain road (P4), I was filled with anticipation and longing for the unknown scenery ahead π₯³. π Upon arriving in Magome-juku (a once-prosperous post town on the Nakasendo Road), I was impressed by the well-preserved and restored streets and buildings. I couldn't help but admire the local residents who, in the face of changing times, had the foresight and consensus to preserve the old street architecture. Together, they established and strictly adhered to the "three no's" principle: "no selling, no renting, and no destroying." This has made them pioneers in the preservation of old street buildings in Japan. π #Japan πΈ #Magome ποΈ
