A Leisurely Weekend, Embracing Slow Living
A Leisurely Weekend, Embracing Slow Living | Half-Day Wanderings in Lafayette, CA 🥐🐕🦺 I’ve always heard that Lafayette is a “city of commuter warriors”—many colleagues would rather drive two hours each way to and from the Bay Area every day than live anywhere else. This weekend, I finally got the chance to experience the charm of this town firsthand while my son was here for an exam. 📍 First Stop: Lafayette Reservoir It’s amazing how such a peaceful natural oasis is tucked so close to the city! We took a leisurely stroll along the 2.7-mile loop trail—60% of it shaded by trees 🌳—refreshing and comfortable. Almost everyone we passed was a local: joggers, dog walkers, parents with strollers… the pace was so relaxed it felt like life was set at 0.5x speed. What really surprised me: nearly 70% of the people had dogs with them, but there was not a single pile of dog poop in sight! 🐕💩 Got to admit—the community here really has high standards. 📍 Second Stop: Downtown Exploration & Bites After leaving the reservoir, we wandered into downtown. It wasn’t crowded with tourists; the streets were quiet and clean. We stumbled upon a bakery with a line out the door and decided to join the queue! Ordered a latte and a plain croissant— And wow! 🥐 It was AMAZING! Flaky but not greasy, soft and moist inside, with a rich buttery aroma~☕️ The coffee was smooth and flavorful, too. We sat at a small table outside, slowly enjoying our snacks. Every now and then, a passerby would smile or say hello—it almost felt like we belonged. 🙌 So here’s what makes Lafayette special: ✅ Perfect balance between nature and city life ✅ Super pet-friendly + incredibly clean ✅ Low-key but quality local shops worth exploring ✅ Polite and friendly locals, unhurried and anti-hustle culture If you’re looking for a place not far from the Bay Area where you can instantly switch to “slow living” mode, Lafayette is definitely worth a visit. 🍃✨ #LafayetteSlowLiving #BayAreaWeekend #DogFriendly #HiddenBakeryGem #AntiHustleCulture
