A New Sculpture Was Just Unveiled in Downtown SF As Part Of Efforts To Revitalize A Popular Plaza

Downtown SF recently got a new sculpture inspired by Tony Bennett’s iconic song “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.” The sculpture, called *Heart SF*, features a red heart in between the letters SF. Positioned in Robert Frost Plaza , the new sculpture is part of a new project called Downtown Gateway, which intends to revitalize the plaza. Robert Frost Plaza is at the intersection of Market, Drumm, and California Streets, and it frequently sees many tourist s due to its central location and cable car stop . The new sculpture is 7 feet tall and 16 feet wide and is intended to be a landmark for Downtown SF that tourists and locals can enjoy. > “The arts have a distinct role in shaping how people experience San Francisco as they remind us who we are and what we stand for,” said Anne Taupier, Executive Director of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development. “Projects like Downtown Gateway turn that spirit into something you can experience – it’s a place where families can pause to take a photo, locals feel a sense of pride, and visitors instantly know they’ve arrived somewhere special.” Other additions to the plaza include plaques detailing SF’s history, floral graphics on the ground, and new public seating.
