A Perfect Day in St. Louis
Though it was just a quick visit, I completely fell for St. Louis—safer, quieter, and lovelier than expected! 🏠 Stay: Clayton Booked a hotel in Clayton—a peaceful, safe neighborhood (locals confirmed: "Everyone stays in Clayton!"). Plenty of Chinese restaurants nearby too. Pro tip: Avoid areas east of the river and north (Ferguson/Florissant) for safety. 🎡 Play: Two Must-Do Spots 1️⃣ Gateway Arch A must-visit! Strolled under the arch at sunset—pure serenity with river views. Parking hack: Street parking is free on weekends (but competitive—circle a few times!). 2️⃣ Saint Louis Zoo HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Free entry ($20 for parking, but free street spots within a 15-min walk). Spacious, with plenty of benches. Saw adorable animals (including a pig-nosed turtle!) and caught the black bear feeding time. 🍜 Eat: 1️⃣ ChiliSpot Finally tried it after missing out in Orlando! No wait, lively vibe—clearly a local favorite. Ordered Boiled Beef (thin slices, light coating) and Sichuan Cold Noodles—solid flavors, though the beef could’ve been cut better. 2️⃣ Corner 17 Warning: Long waits! Arrived at 12:40 PM, seated by 2 PM. The attached boba shop is a smart distraction for hungry diners. Popular with foreigners—think "Americanized Din Tai Fung" (noodles, dumplings, etc.). Open kitchen with hand-pulled noodles—the Braised Beef Noodle Soup and Spicy Noodles were tasty (but not worth a 1-hour wait). Verdict: St. Louis = Underrated charm! #StLouis #TravelDiaries #HiddenGems #FoodieFinds #GatewayArch #USATravel
