A Sandwich Is the Touchstone of a Bakery (1)🍔🍞
It all started when I suddenly craved a very French kind of bread—like a ham and cheese baguette or something. 🗽 So, I specifically paid attention to the homemade sandwiches at various bakeries. 🍔 Most of them are served cold, and the fillings are pretty standard. Since there’s not much to say about the fillings, the focus naturally falls on the bread—it’s their main business, after all. The bread can’t be bad, right? Thinking this way, I actually managed to figure out which ones were better. Some stores had such terrible bread—how dare they? 🤔 🗽Here’s a slightly condensed version of my findings. Aux Merveilleux de Fred 🥪Club Cramique - Mozzarella, Pesto, Sundried Tomato $8.5 Let’s start with the one I wanted to complain about. The fillings are average, and the bread is really not good. The only plus is that it’s big and cheap. 🤷♀️ Breads Bakery 🥖Tunisian on Focaccia $13.5 + tax This one is huge, and the fillings are very well done. The focaccia has a great texture. I recommend it for people who like something airy but find ciabatta too bland. I generally don’t reorder sandwiches, but I actually want to try this one again. #NewYork 🗽🌟
