A Texan's Early-Season Guide to Denver's Top 3 IKON Resorts 🎿

As a Texan who just flew straight to Denver for the weekend, I couldn’t wait to kick off the ski season! 🏔️ This time, I targeted three major IKON Pass resorts: Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin), Copper Mountain Resort, and Winter Park Resort. Here’s my breakdown based on four key aspects: ❄️ Snow Conditions 🛤️ Open Runs 🚡 Operating Lifts 🅿️ Parking Hopefully, this helps you pick the best spot for your early-season turns! 🏔️ Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) ❄️ Snow Conditions: Still in the early stages—only limited terrain is open so far. 🛤️ Runs / 🚡 Lifts: Main lift running is the Black Mountain Express. Longest run is about 1 mile. Snow texture is a bit icy. 🧊 🅿️ Parking: You can park right at the base—no shuttle needed! ⏰ Hours: Weekdays: 9AM–4PM | Weekends: 8:30AM–4PM 🏔️ Copper Mountain Resort ❄️ Snow Conditions: Already skiable, but only limited terrain is available. Official warning: “No beginner terrain currently open.” 🛤️ Runs / 🚡 Lifts: The American Eagle lift is running—serving a super long run of about 2.5 miles 🚀. Really fun for intermediate and advanced riders, though still pretty icy. 🅿️ Parking: Park at the Alpine Lot (or other free resort lots) and take a shuttle to the village/slopes. ⏰ Hours: 9AM–4PM 💡 Remarks: ⭐ My top pick among the three for early season! 🏔️ Winter Park Resort ❄️ Snow Conditions: Their website says five lifts are open, but two are mainly scenic—run length is short and not as satisfying as you’d hope. That said, it might be the only one right now that’s somewhat beginner-friendly. 🛤️ Runs / 🚡 Lifts: Mostly green runs and a few blues. Good for newbies, but total skiable length feels under 1 mile—not very satisfying if you want more. Snow is soft and a bit slushy. 🅿️ Parking: Easy parking near the Main Lodge—no shuttle needed. ⏰ Hours: 9AM–4PM Final Takeaway: Go to Copper if you're intermediate/advanced and want more mileage. Try Winter Park if you're new to skiing. A-Basin is a convenient early-season choice but expect limited terrain. #Denver#ColoradoSki #SkiSeason #FirstTracks #TravelUSA #Colorado #IKONPass
