A Unique NYC Date Night | Naks

✨Recently unlocked a super special Filipino restaurant in NYC – Naks, and experienced the authentic Kamayan Feast. Kamayan means “with hands” in Filipino, and it’s a traditional way of eating during festivals, symbolizing unity and sharing. All the dishes are served on banana leaves, and traditionally, no utensils are used. My friend and I opted for utensils (can’t handle the germophobia), but still felt the full feeling of ceremony! ✨First time seeing such an extravagant presentation, the whole table covered with banana leaves, dishes stretching from one end to the other. Eco-friendly and unique, with generous portions that left us stuffed, all for a reasonable price in NYC. ✨Appetizers The banana leaves were laden with appetizers: Tinapey: Pandesal bread with goat liver spread, a rich layering of flavors. Ensaladang Kamatis: Filipino-style steak tomato salad with salted duck egg and dried anchovies, refreshing and appetizing. Lumpiang Hubad: Seasonal vegetable rolls with peanut sauce, fresh lettuce adding a crisp texture. Kinilaw: Sea urchin and tuna sashimi with radish broth, an explosion of freshness. ✨Main Courses The main event, a feast of hearty dishes: Lechon Liempo: Crispy roasted pork belly, tender and juicy with garlic and lemongrass, simply aromatic. We both took this to go because the portion was just too big. Inihaw Na Manok: Charcoal-grilled lemongrass spring chicken, tender and juicy. Pancit Batil Patong: Egg noodles with pork cracklings, rich and savory sauce, a delightful mouthfeel. Ginataang Gulay: Vegetables cooked in coconut milk, fragrant and delicious, especially with the addition of shrimp. ✨Desserts The desserts were also on point: Kamoteng Kahoy: Cassava with condensed milk and Eden cheese, just the right amount of sweetness. Buko Pandan: Young coconut jelly, a refreshing end to the meal. Balimbing: Starfruit with calamansi and sea salt, a tangy and appetizing finish. ✨Overall, it was a super unique dining experience with not only a variety of dishes but also an engaging format, perfect for gatherings or a date night checkpoint. Recommend( to make a reservation, it’s often packed on weekends! 💰 Average cost: $60-80 #NYCFood #FilipinoCuisine #KamayanFeast #NaksRestaurant #food #IrresistibleExoticFlavors #HiddenGem #RestaurantRecommendation #HiddenGems
