A Week Later and Still Savoring (1)๐
๐ฟ๐How can there be such delicious and beautiful meals! ๐ With a "let's give it a try" attitude, I successfully walked into Smithereens, a place I had bookmarked for a long time. I really enjoyed sitting at the bar table and watching the chefs bustling around. ๐ฟ๐ Even without the drama of Hell's Kitchen, at least I didn't feel bored eating alone.๐ฅฑ The Japanese mackerel was astonishing from the very first bite. I've forgotten what the green stuff was, but I remember the amazing freshness from the blend of three ingredients with different flavors and textures. The beans with red shrimp, squid, and sea urchin were a bit of a miss๐ค. I was torn between this and buri when ordering. ๐ฟ๐ Although the waiter strongly recommended buri, saying it was his personal favorite, and I also liked the "white and something bubbly๐ท" he paired for me... my sea urchin-loving self still went for it without thinking. As a result, the broth was a bit too salty that day, and even adding anadama bread couldn't balance it. In the end, the waiter kindly refunded me for the dish. #NewYork ๐๐
