American Isolation Diary|BBQ by Devil Lake in Milwaukee

Today marks the 16th day of our quarantine. Although Illinois has issued a stay-at-home order, the government actually encourages residents to spend weekends in nature to relax and breathe some fresh air. So last week, we visited the forests of Skokie Lagoon, and this week we drove three and a half hours to Devil Lake in Wisconsin, near Milwaukee, for a BBQ. Location: Devil Lake, Wisconsin Drive: 3.5 hours from Chicago My boyfriend prepared everything the night before—marinated onions 🧅, cucumbers 🥒, mushrooms 🄼, chicken 🐔, corn 🌽, sausages 🍖—and also brought plenty of drinks, bread 🥯, and fruit. As a Virgo, he truly embodies romance and thoughtfulness in the way he treats me. And most importantly, he takes great photos! While I was busy taking pictures and recording videos, he quietly prepared the food, set everything up, and even helped me capture so many beautiful moments! Not only did he drive a total of 7 hours today, but he also took care of everything and gave me such a romantic weekend—especially during these challenging times. Moments like this feel incredibly precious. By the lake, it was so quiet you could hear the sound of the wind brushing against the water. I hope everyone can find their own little piece of happiness in these turbulent times. #Milwaukee #TravelWisconsin #GreatLakes #RustBeltUSA #BeerCity #MidwestTravel #HiddenGems #ExploreMilwaukee
