This is an intriguing fish market restaurant where you receive a sardine can as a table number upon entering. Then, you can choose your seafood, side dishes, and drinks from the stalls. There's no fixed menu here; the daily offerings depend on the season, weather, and fish supply. However, this place is quite popular, and the service can be slow, but the waitstaff are very enthusiastic in interacting with customers. It's best to make a reservation in advance, especially for larger groups! We had a gathering of 7 people and had to choose a Group Dinner (there were several levels of set menus to choose from, with the highest being a €75 per person option). You can taste a variety of intriguing combinations, such as: An appetizer of marinated salmon with trout roe, wasabi cream, crème fraîche vinaigrette, dill, and radish, and lime-marinated tuna sashimi with avocado cream and cucumber; Smoked eggplant with Harissa yogurt, feta cheese, chickpeas, and pomegranate, and pan-seared flounder with herb oil and lemon thyme cream sauce (but the grilled sea bream next to it was even more delicious); Grilled octopus legs with almonds, scallions, and bell peppers (highly recommended!); dessert was cheesecake with passion fruit ice cream, coconut crisps, and chili salt, and a ganache and dark chocolate mousse with caramel, salty popcorn, and hazelnut praline (this one was a bit sweet). After the set menu, we were already quite full, but we couldn't resist ordering the highly recommended crispy soft-shell crab, which felt a bit greasy. Maybe it was because I had high expectations or I was just too full and my taste buds were fatigued 😋. In the end, the total bill for 7 people was €1025 (set menu + a la carte dishes + 3 bottles of red wine). #Amsterdam #RestaurantHopping #HiddenGemRestaurantShare #RestaurantRecommendation #GlobalFoodieSquad #EatingAndDrinking #FoodDaily
