Art Exhibition | Wu Yiming’s B-Side Ink: A Game of Ink and Pop Art
🎨 Eli Klein Gallery is proud to announce the upcoming presentation of a new solo exhibition by Chinese artist Wu Yiming, titled “B-Side Ink.” This is his first solo exhibition at Eli Klein Gallery and in New York, showcasing his latest creations, marking a significant turning point in his ink exploration. The exhibition includes various media such as paper, cardboard, and collage, revealing how the artist engages in a profound dialogue between tradition and modernity through the cultural and social significance of materials. 📜 About the Artist Wu Yiming moved from Shanghai to New York in 2020, a transition that profoundly influenced his work. As a skilled ink painter and scholar, he is rooted in the ink tradition while integrating the complex context of American Pop Art, juxtaposing and iterating Eastern and Western cultural experiences. ✨ Exhibition Highlights Wu Yiming combines traditional ink painting techniques with the rebellious spirit of American Pop Art to create a series of works that embody both Eastern philosophy and Western expression. The “A Smile at a Flower” series skillfully merges Buddhist philosophy with Western classic portraiture, conveying a quest and reflection on self-identity. The “Banana” series, on the other hand, humorously satirizes consumerism, exploring the nihilism and absurdity of the material world. Opening Reception Saturday evening 18:00 - 20:00 🥂 👉 Free admission, no reservation required 🆓 See you at Eli Klein Gallery on March 8th!
