Atago Shrine π
#JapanTravelogue "Atago Shrine" is located atop Atago Hill, the highest point in Minato Ward, Tokyo. π’π It was established in 1603, at the beginning of the Edo Shogunate, by the order of Tokugawa Ieyasu as a guardian deity for fire and disaster prevention in Edo. The shrine is famous for its very steep stone steps leading up the hill, known as the "Steps to Success," which many people climb daily to pay their respects. πΏ Since the shrine is situated in a bustling business district, it has long been known as a spiritual sanctuary for businesspeople. π’π From the Edo period, it has also been renowned as a cherry blossom viewing spot. Every spring, the cherry blossoms within the shrine grounds burst into full bloom, creating an atmosphere as if one is immersed in a palace of flowers. πΈ π’π#Tokyo #AtagoShrine π
