Authentic Thai food in the mouth of a Thai friend! 30 per person!

This New York Thai restaurant was recommended by my Thai friend—she says it’s super authentic! And I just found out they even earned a Michelin star back in 2016! Plus, it’s shockingly affordable—most dishes are only around $10-$20 🥹 Their papaya salad is the star—there are 7️⃣ flavors! No wonder the restaurant’s called Somtum (that’s “green papaya salad” in Thai~) 【Rice Bowl Must-Haves】 🌟 Basil Pork Fried Rice 🍚🍚🍚🍚🥢 They stir-fry the basil pork right with the rice, so every grain gets coated in that savory pork oil. Pair it with a runny egg yolk, and it’s so flavorful! Most places serve basil pork with plain rice on the side—this combo is such a nice twist. 🌟 Salted Egg Papaya Salad 🍚🍚🍚🍚 I went with the salted egg flavor from the 7 options—it adds a salty kick to the spicy-sour base, making the flavors super layered. So unique! 🌟 Thai Spicy Basil Chicken 🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚 Obsessed with this! The sauce is slightly tangy and spicy—so authentically Thai. The chicken is fried crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and the portion is huge for only $16 🔪—total steal! 🌟 Marinated Raw Prawns 🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚 Super fresh! The prawn meat is tender and plump, and the spicy sauce is so appetizing. You can’t adjust the spiciness, but picking out the chili seeds makes it manageable. 🌟 Tom Yum Soup 🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚 The tom yum is so creamy—my favorite in New York! The broth isn’t too sour, and there are plenty of prawns. Must pair it with purple sticky rice—it’s rich with coconut milk flavor! The rice is soft and chewy, not hard at all. The coconut rice with the creamy soup? Perfection! 🌟 Stir-Fried Pork Liver, Thai Pad See Ew 🍚🍚🍚🥢 These are solid but not as standout as the others—still tasty and fragrant, just not as memorable. ⛳️ Somtum Der 85 Avenue A, New York, NY 10009 Like 💗 Save ⭐️ Follow 🙋🏻‍♀️ Check my profile for more NYC eats! #NewYork #NYC #NewYorkFoodGuide #ThaiFood #NewYorkFood #NYCFood #NewYorkFoodReview #NYCThaiFood #NewYorkLife
