BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Houston
Mr. Luo and I wandered around and visited this Indian religious site—wanted to jot down some notes about it 😊😊 Address: 1150 Brand Ln, Stafford, TX 77477, United States Introduction:🍎 The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (I can barely pronounce its full name) is a traditional Indian religious temple. Construction began in 2003 and took 16 months to complete.🎄🎄 🎈🎈It’s said that all the marble used for the temple was sourced in Italy, then sent to India for carving, and finally transported to the US (I haven’t verified this). Whether true or not, this detail adds even more awe to its exquisite craftsmanship.🎃 There are volunteers at the entrance—you can ask them any questions during your visit, and they’re very helpful.🎉🎉 Religious ceremonies are held in the temple every day. The main hall and shrines are only open for visiting after the ceremonies end.☀️ 1. Opening Hours:🏖️ 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (the inner temple is open from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM). 2. Dress & Grooming Rules:😍 - You must remove your shoes before entering the temple. There are separate shoe storage rooms for men and women on both sides of the temple. You can keep your socks on; just store your shoes and walk slowly into the temple. - Taking photos inside the temple is not allowed. For photos of the exterior, you must go down to the ground floor (below the steps)—staff will remind you if you violate this rule.👉👈 🍐🎼- It’s recommended not to wear shorts, short skirts, tank tops, or off-the-shoulder tops. If you do, you’ll be asked to wear a “sarong.” Out of respect for the religion, it’s best not to deliberately violate these rules. 3. Other Details:🌷🌷 Besides the main temple building, there are restrooms, a restaurant, and a store in the surrounding area.🍣🍣 🌌🌌You can slow down and immerse yourself in its religious culture. #Houston #IndianTemple #Travel #WeekendGetaway #WeekendTrip #Texas #TravelSnippets #Religion #SpontaneousTrip
