🏝️ Belle île en Mer, the Beautiful Island Located at the southern tip of Brittany, on the Atlantic coast of France, this rocky island is 17 kilometers long, 9 kilometers wide, with the highest point at an elevation of 71 meters, covering an area of 85.63 square kilometers, making it the third largest island of mainland France. It is only smaller than Corsica (Corse ~ Île de Beauté, 8722 km²) and Oléron Island (174 km², connected to the mainland by a bridge). 🚅 From Paris, take a direct train to the town of Auray, then transfer to a coach that takes about an hour to reach the small city of Quiberon. This is the closest French mainland city to Belle île en Mer. ⛴️ From here, take a mixed passenger and vehicle ferry, 12.3 kilometers away, to reach Belle île en Mer in 50 minutes. The ferry operates all year round and can carry bicycles and cars; tickets should be booked in advance during the peak season.
