Benoit Was Buzzing Today! And That Cassoulet… Magnifique! 😍🍲
Last Wednesday, I had lunch at Benoit with my brother-in-law. Let me tell you—it was the busiest I have ever seen it! 🏃♂️💨 Only one or two tables were free, likely reserved for later. I even saw a couple or two who walked in without reservations and got seated in the bar area. Still a great spot! 🥂 The buzz was probably thanks to Restaurant Week! 🗓️ Benoit was offering a fantastic 3-course prix-fixe menu for just $60. Each course had three tempting options. Someone in our party started with the escargots 🐌—and they looked absolutely divine! I also spotted the Arctic Char as one of the main courses—so elegant! 🐟 But I went straight for the star of the show—the CASSOULET! ❤️🔥 It was a cold January day, and this dish just called my name. Fun fact: Benoit has been famous for its cassoulet since the days of the legendary La Côte Basque! 👑 And let me tell you—it did NOT disappoint! For $48, this hearty masterpiece was packed with savory sausage, tender duck, crispy bacon, and so much more, all nestled with plenty of creamy beans. 🦆🍖 It was served in its own personal-sized Le Creuset-style enamel pot—so charming and so generously portioned that I honestly wished I could take some home! 🍯🚗 During Restaurant Week, they also featured several wines by the glass for just $12! 🍷 I tried a Syrah from the Rhône Valley—not from the famed Côte-Rôtie, but from a nearby vineyard. It was smooth, robust, and paired perfectly with my meal. Any downsides? Well, because the restaurant was so packed, the usual flow felt a tiny bit different. Normally, you’re greeted with those irresistible cheesy puff gougères upon sitting… but today, the bread basket arrived first. 🧺 Still, no real complaints—there was so much delicious food, who could possibly mind? 😉 All in all, Benoit remains one of my absolute FAVORITES.
