Big Bend NP: Successfully Stamped! πΈβ¨
One of only two national parks in Texas, making the trip here is no easy feat. Yet another stamp successfully collected in the national park passport! ππΌ The park is vast, with breathtaking scenery. However, the views on the trails are even more rich and beautiful, full of delightful surprises. ππ³ π Visiting Big Bend during Thanksgiving, the temperature was just right β not too hot, not too cold. A thick long-sleeve shirt plus a lightweight windbreaker did the trick. If it got chilly, adding a thin down jacket was enough. π§₯βοΈ I recommend these three must-do trails, ranging from easy to medium difficulty: Santa Elena β Round trip 1 hour πΆββοΈπΆββοΈ A trail by the river, one of the few in the park where you can play in the water. Itβs short, with a bit of stair climbing involved. At the end, youβre at the foot of a valley where you can splash around a bit. ππ Lost Mine β Round trip 3 hours ποΈπ This trail makes you feel like youβre walking in the high mountains, with a section that follows the edge of a cliff, offering layers of mountain ranges in view and a broad field of vision. The elevation is 100 meters higher than trail 3. β°οΈπ Window Trail β Round trip 3 hours π΅ποΈ Different from the high mountain experience of trail 2, this trail takes you through cactus country towards the deep mountains and into a dry riverbed. A very unique feeling. π΅ποΈ πΆ The Window View Trail, next to the Chisos Visitor Center, is a paved 0.3-mile mini-trail where you can take your dog. Though short, the scenery is also wonderful. ππ #AmericanNationalParks #BigBendNationalPark #BigBend #TexasTravel #TexasOutdoors #NationalParkStamp #TexasLiving
