Birmingham Day-Trip | Shakespeare’s Town
Birmingham Day-Trip | Shakespeare’s Town 🎭 Just 55 minutes from Birmingham Moor Street to Stratford-upon-Avon (open return £7.10 with Railcard—total steal! 🚂). Exit the station, follow the crowd for 5–6 minutes, and boom—you’re in the heart of town, aka “Dog Town” 🐾! Almost every local has a pup in tow, so dog lovers (or owners) will be in heaven. All pups are leashed and *so* well-behaved, even if you’re a little wary of dogs, you can relax and soak up the cute overload. Shopaholics, rejoice—there are tons of boutiques and charity stores to rummage through 🛍️. Shakespeare’s Birthplace requires tickets for the full tour, but next door, the souvenir shop has adorable tote bags, fridge magnets, and books—pricey, but perfect keepsakes if you’re a fan 📚. Food options are everywhere, and the smells are amazing (think classic British fare—though Chinese restaurants are few and far between). I wandered into a random bar for pizza (check photo 3 🍕)—meat toppings are pork-only, but their veggie pizza was tasty too! Menu in photo 4—pro tip: bring your BRP if you fancy a drink 🍻. Post-lunch, a 10-minute stroll leads to the river 🌊. Swans glide by, ducks waddle up begging for bread (sold at nearby shops—so cute 🦆). Rent a rowboat, or just picnic on the huge lawn—pure slow-living vibes, ideal for unwinding. We even lucked into a mini-fair (weekly? Pop-up? Not sure, but we’ll take it! 🎡). Rides are £4–5 each—half the price of Birmingham’s centre. Small roller-coaster, bumper cars, Ferris wheel, trampolines… perfect for keeping kids (or kids at heart) entertained 🥳. Stratford-upon-Avon is equal parts charming, laid-back, and full of history—definitely worth the day trip! ✨ #UKStudentLife#BirminghamDayTrip#ShakespeareTown
