Birmingham Sunny Day Hike Recommendation: Lickey Hills

Lickey Hills Country Park is a vast forest park located in the suburbs of Birmingham, divided into several areas. I followed a foreign friend and easily explored all the areas. You can choose your hiking route based on your preferences. This season, you can see bluebells; there's even a dedicated bluebell route. Along this path, bluebells are everywhere—it looks like a fairy's home! 🌸 During the hike, I saw piles of wood under the trees. After reading the nearby signs, I learned that visitors can collect some wood to place under the trees to build animal nests. Near the Visitor Centre, there's a playground. I tried the flying fox for the first time in my life—it was super fun! I also enjoyed the swings and seesaws, which are suitable for adults too. Lickey Hills even has a golf course, and the quality of the grass is quite good. ⛳️ At the top of the hill, there's a fortress with panoramic views of Birmingham. This fortress was built by the Cadbury family, yes, the famous British chocolate brand. They later donated it to the city, and now it's a tourist attraction. There are benches near the fortress, and my friend and I had a picnic while enjoying the cloudless view. With a gentle breeze, we closed our eyes and savored the beauty of the wind. The nearby car park at the top (yes, you can drive to the summit) also has an ice cream van. What a smart business move—how could you resist an ice cream on a sunny day? 🍦 There were so many people hiking here, and almost every family had a dog. Often, dogs would run towards us and jump onto our laps. The hike included some muddy paths, which were a bit tricky even on a sunny day. I recommend wearing boots or high-top sneakers for better traction. I had to clean my sneakers thoroughly when I got back. 🥾 Lickey Hills has both shaded, densely wooded areas and open spaces where the sky and clouds seem within reach. I breathed in lots of fresh air, enjoyed the various shades of green, and got a good workout. Fellow hiking enthusiasts should definitely visit. The park is conveniently located within Birmingham. I suggest going with a group, as it's easy to get lost if you're not familiar with the terrain. This is a more natural forest area, so make sure to leave before dark. 🌲 #Birmingham #UK #UniversityofBirmingham #UKHiking #UKTravel
