Brühl's Augustusburg ~ Rococo Castle 🏰✨

I visited this place located between Cologne and Bonn in North Rhine-Westphalia over the weekend. Augustusburg in Brühl is a Baroque palace in Brühl, near Cologne, Germany, and is considered one of the masterpieces of European Baroque architecture. It was built in the 18th century as the summer residence of Clemens August, the Archbishop-Elector of Cologne. The palace was designed by architect Balthasar Neumann for summer retreats, hunting, and hosting events. On the wall of the second vestibule, there is a depiction of a young man in armor. The man in the painting is Charles VII, the brother of Clemens August, celebrating his coronation as the Holy Roman Emperor in 1742. The most famous part of the palace is the luxurious staircase hall, known for its exquisite Baroque design and delicate carving art. The French-style gardens surrounding the palace complement the beautiful fountains, creating a tranquil and elegant atmosphere. Augustusburg, together with the neighboring Falkenlust hunting lodge, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you are interested in historical buildings, art, or natural landscapes. Tips: It takes about 30 minutes to walk from Augustusburg to Falkenlust Garden, and there are no buses 🚌. However, the route is through a royal park with beautiful scenery. Friends who want to visit both can buy a combined ticket at Augustusburg. Take the train to Brühl Train Station 🚞, and you're there! 👇 #Germany #NorthRhineWestphalia #NorthRhineWestphaliaGoodPlaces #DayTrip #BonnArea #CologneArea #Bonn #Bruhl #Cologne #NorthRhineWestphaliaAttractions
