✈️ Route: Toronto → Iguazu → São Paulo → Lençóis Maranhenses (airport in São Luís) → Rio 📅 Dates: 【August 30 - September 10, 2024】A 12-day free itinerary left here for everyone’s reference! 🌊 Day 2-4: Iguazu “I finally made it to the falls!!!” Visited Itaipu to see capybaras Explored Parque das Aves, a bird park filled with colorful big and small birds 🦜 🎨 Day 5: Half-Day Layover in São Paulo Carefully explored Beco do Batman, the graffiti alley 🦸 Flew to São Luís, then took a 4.5-hour intercity bus to Barreirinhas, the base town for Lençóis Maranhenses 📌 Note: You can usually book shuttle buses from your accommodation to Barreirinhas. However, since my flight arrived too late and missed the last shuttle, I had the chance to experience local transportation in São Luís. Alternatively, you can take an Uber to the Rodoviária (bus station) near the airport and buy a ticket for the Cisne Branco bus company on the spot. 🏜️ Day 6-7: Lençóis Maranhenses Joined two day tours (booked through our accommodation, with transportation included and meals at your own expense): Lagoa Azul / Lagoa Bonita: Like glitching into Earth’s online mode 💎 Santo Amaro: Trekking across the dunes 🏜️ 🏠 Highly recommend our stay at Toca do Vaidoso (booked on Booking.com)! The owners, a lovely elderly couple, were super friendly, and their son spoke fluent English, making communication effortless. Staying here felt like joining a warm Brazilian family 🥰 📅 Note: The peak season for Lençóis Maranhenses is June-August, but by early September, the water levels in the lagoons were still great — perfect for swimming or taking stunning photos. Climbing over the dunes, the interwoven white sands and blue lakes were breathtakingly spectacular.
