Brooklyn Museum’s 200th Anniversary Exhibition
The Brooklyn Museum is celebrating its 200th anniversary with the exhibition “Breaking the Mold: Brooklyn Museum at 200” 🎉 The exhibition runs from February 28, 2025, to February 22, 2026. Split into three sections, it features beloved classics alongside outstanding new exhibits. 🔵 Made in Brooklyn: This section pays homage to the art and design born in Brooklyn from the 17th century to the present. Starting with a pair of Delaware youth moccasins, honoring the indigenous people of the land, the exhibition then takes viewers on a journey through time to admire the brilliant works of contemporary Brooklyn artists like KAWS, Duke Riley, and Tourmaline. 🔵 Collections and Histories Retraced: This part looks back on the development of the collection and the building through transformative artworks and precious archival materials. 🔵 200th Anniversary Art Tribute: Showcasing exceptional contemporary works, including paintings, photographs, videos, sculptures, ceramics, and more, all generously donated by enthusiastic patrons to celebrate the museum’s bicentennial. Classics by renowned artists such as Julie Mehretu, Robert Frank, Alex Katz, and Coco Fusco are displayed alongside works by many other outstanding contemporary artists active in Brooklyn. “Breaking the Mold: Brooklyn Museum at 200” Duration: February 28, 2025 - February 22, 2026 Curator Tour (Members Only): March 20, 2025, 6-7:30 pm 📍 Brooklyn Museum, 4th Floor, Decorative Arts and Design Galleries #NYCArtWeek #BrooklynMuseum #Exhibition #Art
