Cairo 🇪🇬 | A Millennium-Old City Walking Route

Simple Citywalk itinerary sharing: 📍 Salah El-Din Citadel Ticket 🎫 Full 500 EGP / Student 250 EGP (¥36). Inside are two mosques and two museums. The Blue Mosque-inspired one allows entry—its lighting and ceiling design are stunning. The Military Museum (likely a former palace) has dull exhibits but offers a glimpse of royal interiors. Allow ~2 hours. Closes at 4 PM; the lit-up exterior at night is worth seeing. 📍 Al-Azhar Mosque One of Cairo’s oldest mosques and still a vibrant Islamic school. Free entry 🆓. The minaret glows beautifully at sunset, and the nighttime lighting is magical. Opposite Khan el-Khalili—cross via the underground passage. 📍 Hanging Church Reportedly Egypt’s oldest church (free entry 🆓). Called "hanging" because it’s built above a mosque and fortress. Its Ottoman-style design and decorations are unique. 📍 Aisha Fahmy Palace Open 9-14/17-21. Free entry 🆓. The artworks and architecture are exquisite. Located in Zamalek—pair with Nile riverside views and nightscapes. 📍 Saturday Flea Market Pin 📍 Cinema Diana. Stalls pop up weekly near this theater, mostly selling vintage furniture/decor and some accessories. Come for treasure-hunting and local vibes—I scored handmade rings for 30-80 EGP (¥6-16) each! 📍 Baron Empain Palace Ticket 🎫 200 EGP / Student 100 EGP (¥15). A New Cairo landmark—this Indian-style mansion-turned-museum is photogenic outside; interiors are standard palace fare. #EgyptTravel #CairoDayTrip 🌆✨
