Cairo Travel Guide

Three weeks back from Egypt, and I can confidently say it’s the #1 country for scammers out of the 30+ I’ve visited. Here’s a full breakdown, starting with Cairo: 🌆 Cairo: The safest city in Egypt—no contest. Beats Aswan & Luxor by a mile. Drivers follow rules, and scams are minimal. Split your visit into: New Cairo, Old Cairo, and Giza. ✈️ Visa on Arrival: $25 USD (cash only). Ignore anyone saying you must pay exact change—they’ll accept $50/$100 and give change. This is an airport, not a scam booth. ☎️ SIM Card: Buy it before baggage claim (T3 has a booth right by the belts). Get extra data—small-town hotels often have trash Wi-Fi. 🏨 Hotels: Airport area, New Cairo, Giza resorts, or 6th of October City. Don’t fear distance—taxis are cheap, and the air is cleaner. 🚖 Taxis: Uber Comfort ONLY. Compared to Hurghada/Luxor, Cairo’s rides are smoother and less scam-prone. 🛍️ Malls: Skip CityStars (overhyped). Go to: Mall of Arabia (6th of October City) — Egypt’s largest mall. 5A Waterway Garden 8 — Feels like a mini Taikoo Li (high-end & aesthetic). 🏯 Attractions Ranked: 📌Giza Pyramids 📌Grand Egyptian Museum (if open) 📌Egyptian Museum (Tahrir) Saladin Citadel 📌Khan el-Khalili (stay alert for hustlers) 📌"Outer Boroughs" (e.g., Coptic Cairo) 📌Cairo Tower (skip unless you love mediocre views) 🏝️ Zamalek: The embassy district (safe for walking). North = upscale, South = gritty. Full of quirky boutiques—best for a relaxed city walk. #Cairo #EgyptTravel #CairoShopping #CairoAirport #CairoHotels #EgyptScams #Luxor #Aswan
