Canada | Jasper Hike π Edith Cavell Glacier
This was supposed to be the highlight of our Jasper trip. This trail offers views of alpine meadows and adorable pikas! ποΈπΎ Unfortunately, due to deep snow, only the first 1 km of the trail was open. We could only get a close look at the snowy mountains, glaciers, and ice lake βοΈποΈ. We first hiked to a small hilltop to enjoy the view and then went to the edge of the ice lake. The round trip was 3.4 km, with an elevation gain of 145 m, taking us 1 hour and 15 minutes β°οΈ. The path to the hilltop was quite rocky and challenging, but you could also take the lakeside route for a different view. We witnessed small avalanches occurring frequently (saw about a dozen), which was spectacular. The sound was thunderous and surprising, with snow cascading down from high altitudes like a waterfall, all the way into the lake! π¨οΈπ Seeing avalanches up close and in such abundance for the first time was awe-inspiring. The power of nature is truly overwhelming. #Jasper #JasperNationalPark #TravelInCanada #Travel #SnowCappedMountains #Glaciers #EnjoyNature #ScenicViews #NaturePhotography #OutdoorHiking
