Canmore Hidden Gem Recommendation | Ankor Restaurant
Located in the charming town of Canmore near Banff, Ankor Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone hitting the Banff Ski Big3 resorts (Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise Ski Resort, & Mt. Norquay). Itâs a top-notch spot with French-style cuisine that I believe fully meets Michelin standards. The dining environment is excellent, and youâre unlikely to be disappointed. Many dishes are truly exceptional, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. đĽđ˝ď¸ First Visit: We ordered four main dishes, two first courses, and one dessert for three people. It was just right to fill us up. Main Dishes: All were delicious! The seafood and duck are especially recommendedâtender and flavorful. The bison and pork were also noteworthy, with four kinds of sauces that complemented the dishes perfectly. First Courses: Foie Gras with Brioche Bread and Apple Jam: Highly recommended! Mix the foie gras with apple jam for a rich, buttery spread on the bread. Itâs a delightful taste explosion! Squash Soup with Crab Topping: This dish had cranberry gel, adding a tangy sweetness that made it very appetizing. Dessert: We had the pound cake with coffee cream. The coffee cream was exceptionalâdeliciously rich and not overly sweet. It paired perfectly with the cake and was a standout treat! Second Visit: For New Yearâs Eve, we enjoyed the fixed menu, which included the signature foie gras with brioche. 𼰠The main course featured a surf & turf with oysters and beef. The oysters were fantastic, and the beef was tender and well-seasoned. The highlight of the fixed menu was the Dulce de Leche Tartâcrispy on the outside with two layers inside: one sweet and the other richly creamy.
